HUR labs Balance Software gives visually clear test results which provide a baseline for future training.

The HUR Performance Recorder provides an easy analysis of muscle strength.
HUR Falls Prevention and Balance Testing Programs
For seniors, muscular strength is directly connected to functional ability and balance control both of which help in the management of everyday chores. Research indicates that the correct type of resistance, or muscular, training helps maintain functional ability.
-
In the UK 2003 it was found approx 650,000 people over 60 were taken to A&E after falling, and over 204,000 were admitted to hospital. (Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health)
-
Among older adults, falls are the leading cause of injury deaths (in the UK 14,000 die annually-Age UK)
-
Most fractures among older adults are caused by falls (Bell et al. 2000)
-
Over the last 25 years the percentage of the UK population aged 65 and over increased from 15 per cent in 1984 to 16 per cent in 2009, an increase of 1.7 million people.(Office for National Statistics)
-
According to Age UK, the cost for treatment of fall-related injuries today is estimated at 1.7 billion pounds per annum.
-
Strength and balance training have been shown to help decrease the amount of falls and resulting injuries by between 15 and 50%.
HUR's Falls Prevention concept is based on a number of international top professionals' knowledge in senior citizens' rehabilitation. One of those individuals is Welmed Labs' physiotherapist and researcher Gerd Laxåback, who uses the Falls Prevention concept in her care and rehabilitation work. Her research particularly focuses on the connections of balance and muscular power when it comes to senior citizens. HUR exercise equipment , along with other HUR Fall Prevention products, such as Balance Testing, is especially suitable for this purpose.

HUR pneumatic air-resistance technology allows seniors to safely build their "Functional Fitness" by increasing and maintaining their ROM, re-educate and strengthen muscles, increase static and dynamic endurance and increase bone density. HUR equipment helps target the exercises to the right muscle, which is important for falls prevention. Knee extension and flexion, extension of hip joint, abduction of hip joint, ankle extension and flexion, rotation, extension and flexion of trunk are the most important muscle groups for balance.
Measuring and observing the functional ability of older people is essential. Precise control is needed to prevent injuries and to get older people into rehabilitation in time. HUR Falls Prevention can be divided in two parts. First is for measuring functional capacity, muscular strength and balance and the other is for strength and speed-strength exercises as well as balance and reactivity exercises. HUR Falls Prevention Program includes equipment and software which has been developed to ease these tasks.
The HUR Balance Testing Platform and Air-resistance Strength Exercise Machines provide unique tools to implement falls prevention, active ageing, rehabilitation and physical therapy programs.
The Balance Platform is a computerized posturography machine that enables physical therapists to screen, assess, test and train for balance disorders. Balance Testing identifies those at high risk of falling and allows care givers to take proper actions to prevent them falling.
The combination of the HUR Balance Testing and Training Platforms and Air-resistance Strength Exercise Machines allows both speed and power training to develop fast twitch muscle fibres that are essential for balance recovery once postural balance has been lost.
Muscular strength improvement can be measured by the HUR Performance Recorder.
