Inclusive Fitness Initiative

The Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI) provides accreditation for products that allow the integration of disabled people into mainstream fitness facilities. As members of the original IFI Research Associate groupHUR have worked collaboratively to develop machines that help facilities to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.

HUR offer 12 machines with IFI accreditation at Stage 2 (the current standard). These are suitable for people of all abilities, eliminating the requirement for two types of equipment – truly inclusive. Our team has comprehensive experience in making HUR equipment function seamlessly in mainstream operations – the primary objective of inclusive fitness. We can help you identify, plan and deliver the best solution for your circumstances.

Premium Line Adduction / Abduction Rehab: 5520

HUR Premium Line Adduction / Abduction Rehab: 5520

Pneumatics

Typical isotonic movements can be performed (as per traditional equipment), as well as dynamic movements (power), whilst still maintaining tension in the muscle – and without damaging impact to joints. Momentum is largely eliminated (HUR’s ‘Natural Transmission’).

Starting resistance is close to zero, with no ‘increments’…resistance can be increased in grams for the frailest of users, or kilograms. (Maximal resistance is comparable with weight stack machines, but since tension is always maintained in the muscle at all times the actual resistance used is often less).

Pneumatic resistance allows the user the alter resistance/pressure at any time, concentrically (+), eccentrically (-), as well as isometrically.

Standard

HUR ‘Dual Function’ machines combine 2 joint functions within a single unit, in this instance both Adduction and Abduction; the concentric requirement, the eccentric, and the isometric. The user can also produce a ‘stretch’ in the adductor mode to improve flexibility.

Analogue Resistance Display, with + and – pushbutton control.

Isometric testing sensor attachment.

Additional ‘Easy Access’ handgrips better enable those with mobility or balance issues to transfer to and from the machine.

The usual ‘range limiters’ can be used to ensure the user does not work into a painful or risk area. (Manual manipulation of the air pressure can also be used to accomplish this).

Options

‘SmartTouch’ touchscreen, with software to automate control of personal resistance settings, seat positions, and overall exercise program(s). (Local server, or Cloud-based).

The ‘Performance Recorder’ device enables maximal isometric force to be measured, and recorded (on software). Muscular asymmetry can be shown, at baseline, and monitored periodically, to show improvement and to develop an evidence base. (Only 1 ‘Performance Recorder’ required per HUR set-up…it is portable, and shared between the relevant machines).

Neck &/or seat cushions, which fit via elastic/Velcro on top of the standard upholstery can improve comfort and ‘fit’, especially for those with postural issues.

Exercises can be performed from a standing position, from a wheelchair, or from seated – including from the HUR Pulley Rowing Bench.
